On July 13, 2024, President Donald J. Trump was shot at a political rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. President Trump was referencing a graph on a presentation display off to the side of the stage, when he turned his head toward the graph. Then he turned his head again for a split second, when he said a bullet grazed his ear. The 45th President then grabbed his right ear with his hand, took one look at the resulting blood and ducked under his podium behind bulletproof glass on the stage.

The U.S. Secret Service detail then states they responded to the incoming gunfire by identifying a gunman lying atop the roof of a nearby building, shooting him, leading to that person’s death.
